Chad completed a Bachelor of Information Technology (Software Engineering) with Honours from the University of South Australia in 2001 and has nearly 15 years experience in software development. He has vast defence experience with more than 10 years working at DST Group in the Electro-Optic Sensors and Processing Group in Weapons and Combat Systems Division and with KAZ Group (formerly Aspect Computing) before this.
Chad has strong technical skills and experience in C++, real-time rendering and simulation, OpenGL, GPU shading languages, CUDA, 3D Mathematics, electro-optic radiometry, and GUI Development. He has extensive experience using Visual Studio, Matlab, and Unreal Engine. Whilst working at DST Group, Chad achieved a divisional award for scientific excellence in scene generation for his work as lead developer and designer of real-time electro-optic scene generation and simulation package VIRSuite. He developed tools for applying “physics based” attributes to 3D models, preparing DTED data for terrain rendering, and producing atmospheric conditions using Modtran. Chad was key in porting bespoke scene generation tools to Unreal Engine. He has vast experience interfacing with hardware; such as developing software for controlling, capturing and displaying images from infrared cameras, and applying various post-processing algorithms in real-time using CUDA (multiple integration non uniform correction and image based tracking). He also developed a distributed software system for controlling in-house developed missile pods; allowing for capturing imagery, telemetry and storing vast quantities of data.
During his employment at DST Group, he was a contributing author to many SPIE papers with topics covering areas; such as GPU realtime scene simulation, maritime scenes, LADAR simulation, and Thermal signature prediction. Chad is a highly motivated individual with a passion for 3D scene simulation.
