Consilium Technology Wins Trifecta at AIIA’s SA/NT iAwards

Artificial Intelligence company, Consilium Technology, won all three categories at the AIIA SA/NT iAwards last night for its revolutionary AgTech product — GAIA .

The Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA) iAwards, now celebrating 26 years, is Australia’s leading awards and recognition program for innovation in the digital economy.

The AIIA announced the 2019 South Australia/Northern Territory iAwards winners at the State iAwards Gala Dinner, held at the Adelaide Convention Centre on 20 June 2019. Keynote speakers at the prestigious event included The Hon. Steven Marshall, Premier of South Australia; and The Hon. David Pisoni MP, SA Minister for Industry and Skills.

“These awards honour the outstanding achievements of the public sector, individuals and companies at the cutting edge of technological innovation, as well as leading professionals across the digital economy”, said Premier Marshall.

Australia has a long history in producing global success stories through the iAwards program, including Google Maps, Atlassian, and Wotif. Last night, the AIIA presented awards for technological innovation across Core Categories, Cross Technology Categories, and Cross Stage Categories.

AIIA CEO, Ron Gauci, said the innovation showcased by the 2019 finalists builds on the incredible success of last year’s iAwards, creating further momentum for the Australian technology sector.

“For 26 years the iAwards has recognised, celebrated and elevated those at the forefront of Australian innovation. This year, we’re once again proud to provide a platform for, and encouragement to people in our community who dedicate their time and energy to develop technological ideas that can make a real difference at home, in the office or on a global scale”, said Gauci.

Consilium Technology’s revolutionary AgTech product — GAIA — was the only nomination to win across all three categories on the night:

  • Core Category Winner – Industrial & Primary Industries
  • Cross Technology Category Winner – Automation Technologies Innovation of the Year
  • Cross Stage Category Winner – Research & Development Project of the Year
Consilium Technology Won the Trifecta at AIIA’s 2019 SA/NT iAwards.

GAIA recently completed the National Vineyard Scan by identifying and mapping all of Australia’s vineyards using AI and satellite imagery. The use of this technology to map crop-type for an entire continent is a world first achievement.

The leading AI company has identified that GAIA’s technology can be adapted to solve similar problems within the agricultural industry, and is already exploring opportunities to take GAIA to international markets.

Consilium Technology CEO, Seth Thuraisingham, recognises the company’s success at the iAwards is a team achievement.

“Winning in all three nominated categories at the iAwards is a testament to the innovative team that is the essence of Consilium Technology. I’m so thrilled for the team. I’m thrilled that their dedication and commitment has been recognised”, Thuraisingham said.

Consilium Technology will represent South Australia at the National iAwards for all three categories — Industrial & Primary Industries; Automation Technologies of the Year; Research & Development Project of the Year.

An esteemed panel of industry leading judges will evaluate GAIA and the other winning innovations to determine the National iAwards winners. National winners will be announced at the prestigious AIIA 2019 iAwards Gala Dinner and Awards Ceremony, held in Melbourne on 29 August 2019.

Consilium Technology is honoured to have received these highly competitive awards and would like to thank the iAwards sponsors Department of the Premier and Cabinet, Microsoft, DWS Group, Symplicit, MEGT, NBN, Telstra, Victorian Government, AUDA, The University of Queensland, CSIRO’s Data61 and UTS. The company would also like to thank the AIIA iAwards founders and organisers for celebrating and promoting local innovations to the national stage.

Finally, Consilium Technology would like to congratulate all other entrants, merit recipients and winners for their commitment to challenging the status quo and pursuing technological innovation.
